Indoqa Software Design – Senior React developer

In Indoqa's core UI development team, since May 2020

A developer seen from behind at a desk in front of two monitors: one shows the wireframe of a web interface, the other code and a video call; through the window, the Chain Bridge and Buda Castle at dusk.

Background of the cooperation

Indoqa Software Design is a small software development company based in Vienna. Its team of dedicated software developers builds products, frameworks and libraries: mainly on React.js on the front end, and with Apache components and Java solutions on the back end. It has gained deep expertise in several areas, including search systems, geographic information systems, and UI development frameworks and libraries. It makes this knowledge available to its clients in the form of commercial and open source software. The cooperation with BlackBelt started in May 2020.

Challenge

Indoqa handles back-end development and API design with its own team; the bottleneck was front-end capacity. They needed a true front-end specialist who, besides implementing the user interfaces, also writes the automated tests, and works on both the company's own product development and its client projects. This was the company's first nearshore cooperation, so the framework for working together also had to be set up at the start.

Solution

BlackBelt provided a senior React developer who joined the Indoqa team from Budapest. The work fits into Indoqa's own processes. The wireframes and the API specification come from Indoqa, and a concept is prepared from them before implementation. Development takes place on short-lived feature branches, and the code is reviewed by Indoqa's lead developers in the form of pull requests. The user interfaces are built from reusable React components, and their functionality is covered by Cypress tests. Communication is in English, with a daily written status update and at least one video call a week.

Result

BlackBelt's React expert has become a key member of Indoqa's core UI development team, contributes to the development of the company's flagship solutions, and also supports the projects of Indoqa's clients.

“Working together with BlackBelt has been a pleasure. We work together with highly motivated people which is the key to success. This became possible because of a very professional setup process at the beginning of our cooperation.”
